Conservative Swedes uprising

There is a grassroots revolution brewing among the conservative Swedes, and it may hit the flashpoint in the immediate future. The result could be a dramatic game changer in Sweden, with repercussions being felt in the other Nordic countries for a long time to come.

But first, a recap of events. In the September 2014 election, the conservative Alliance led by the Moderates (M) that had ruled 2006 through 2014 lost power. This loss was in no small part thanks to former PM Reinfeldt’s determination to abandon traditional conservative values and openly embrace immigration literally at the expense of everything else

Fredrik Reinfeldt

As a result, hundreds of thousands former conservative voters were more or less forced to the nationalist party Sweden Democrats (SD) as they were they only ones left fending for decreased immigration and a return to fiscal sense. Unfortunately, the party came with unpleasant baggage such as white supremacist roots and current Machiavellian leadership. Thus, many traditionally conservatives stayed put hoping for the best when new M leader Anna Kinberg Batra took the helm. This hope was soon turned into moot; she’s basically a spineless carbon copy of Reinfeldt.

Anna Kinberg Batra

But the “conservative” parties’ incompentence pales in comparison to the epic fiasco that is the current prime minister. As the “conservatives” lost power, socialist Stefan Löfven formed a weak coalition government with green populist party Miljöpartiet (MP) that had never before been in government. It was a disaster from day 1, but things didn’t come to a head until the first budget was to be presented.

Current socialist-green government

Nationalist party SD, which was now the third largest party, made it clear well ahead of time that they would topple any budget that ignored their demand for decreased immigration. A reasonable request considering Sweden has only 2% of the EU population, yet receives almost 20% of the total inflow of refugees. They even went so far as to issue an open letter to new prime minister Löfven that they would support his budget should he just cut immigration by half. This would still make Sweden the most generous country in Scandinavia, and the state tax coffer would get a breather. No sale.

Löfven refused to even meet with SD. He put his socialist budget out there. And as promised, SD voted it down. The shock, anger and surprise was almost comical. “Whaaa..? They didn’t cave? They actually did what they said they would do? How DARE they..!?”

Löfven reacted like a child who just lost the game. He issued a snap election, where the stupid voters were supposed to give him the majority needed to single-handedly push through his budget. So there!

Except… The voters kept piling into the SD camp. From 12.9% in the September election, they were already polling around 15% in early december. Since the snap election wasn’t to be held until March 2015, there was a very real chance they’d be closer to 20%, and that would REALLY mess things up.

So Löfven called on his traditional enemies in the conservative Alliance and struck a deal instead of holding the promised snap election. In the infamous December Agreement, they basically recreated the old Italian Acerbo law of 1923, granting a minority government freedom from opposition. This is what Mussolini’s fascist party used to grab power and create a dictatorship despite being a minority. Conservative think tank Heimdal summed it up best: This is civil treason!

Since then, the “conservative” parties have sat on their hands while the lefties have made full use of their freedom. Progressive tax hikes on fuel, abolished deductions, drastic increases in welfare entitlements, and of course increased foreign aid to Hamas (“Palestine”)… The party is just getting started, and the “conservatives” have agreed to stay passive and perhaps shake their fists a little for the look of things until 2018.

Meanwhile, more and more displays are flashing red in the Swedish economy as well as the societal fabric itself. The Swedish currency is in free fall, the housing market is so inflated the slightest vibration can make the bubble pop, and the current as well as future obligations of literally hundreds of thousands unemployable immigrants are painting a stark picture.

But the rudder is firmly tied down. The anti-democratic December Agreement succeeded in shutting out SD from any influence whatsoever. The Alliance is bound by it’s promise to do nothing. And Löfvens Socialdemocrat party is so weak it is entirely dependent on extreme left fringe party Vänsterpartiet (V) which has been granted the role of kingmaker despite only having a few percent of the vote. Which allows the extreme left to make whatever demands it sees fit.

This situation is of course utterly absurd.

It defies reason WHY the “conservatives” would rather let all this happen than just sit down with SD. Because they could, at any given time, shake off the shackles of the December Agreement and declare their own government with passive support by SD. The conservative voters want to see reduced immigration. And they certainly want to see an end to the leftist madness now taking place, so it’s hardly a stretch to see this obvious solution happening. Except, of course, the party leadership with M in particular stubbornly refusing to even consider the option.

But now there’s a grassroots revolution taking place within M. More and more voting districts have openly declared their rebellion against the bizarre December Agreement, and the local leaders are on a full-on collision course with the top brass in Stockholm. Being a spineless amoeba, Kinberg Batra continues to downplay the rebellion and do the depressingly familiar politician-dance around the issue, but the cat is out of the bag.

So what we have is a fork in the road in front of us. Either the grassroots manage to set their foot down hard enough that the top brass changes course and revert back to old-school conservatism. This may mean a shift in government, where the lefties are unceremoniously kicked out and a real conservative government passively supported by SD can begin to roll back the madness. Failing that, at least there will be real opposition again to stop further overtaxation and moronic foreign policies

The other possibility is that the top brass stomps out the grassroots. Mass expulsions of key members in the rebellious voting districts would quench the uprising, but it would also mean mass exodus of regular voters. All the remaining traditional conservatives who has thus far clung on to their old parties in the hope for common sense to resurface, would leave en masse to join the only champion for sense left standing. If the party leaders in Stockholm choose this route I think it is perfectly reasonable to expect SD to clock in over 30% as the single biggest party in the 2018 election.

Personally, I fear Sweden will choose the latter option. This means three more years of financial mayhem, followed by a tremendous amount of power being handed to a group of opportunists whom I personally wouldn’t trust one iota. Let’s hope I’m wrong.

Former PM Reinfeldt campaigning for archenemy SD

Fredrik Reinfeldt started out reasonably well when he took the helm of Moderaterna, the conservative party that has acted as a bulwark against the worst excesses of the loony left over the decades. Indeed, he dusted off the cobwebs and brought the old core values of fiscal responsibility, tough-on-crime and business friendliness into the new age by reshaping Moderaterna into “New Moderaterna” (don’t laugh, it actually worked a little despite the name.)

He won the election in 2006, formed a government in an alliance with three small, semi-conservative parties (giving it the imaginative name “The Alliance”) and did pretty well for a while. Overall taxes went down, the rampant abuse of welfare entitlements was hemmed in, and nobody can have missed that Sweden weathered the eurocrisis with flying colors thanks to strict fiscal discipline.

Then he started going off the rails soon after the election in 2010.

The Sweden Democrats, SD, was a tiny, marginal party that managed to squeak themselves past the 4% mark and make it into parliament for the first time.

Now, SD is a party sprung from the shady depths of the tiny but definitely existing white supremacy-movement. But what led them from the extremist fringes and into parliament is partly a cleaning-up process by the new leader Jimmie Åkesson where the dregs were unceremoniously kicked out, but mostly because people started questioning why Swedish immigration policy was so much more generous than the neighboring countries.

Simply put, it became a protest vote because none of the established parties would even discuss that perhaps it was time to dial things back a little to manageable levels. And at just over five percent, SD had zero practical impact on anything except making noise. It could have been as simple as letting it be the wakeup call for the “real” parties to get their act together and listen to the voters. Had the conservative parties with Reinfeldt’s Moderaterna in the lead simply adjusted the refugee inflow to the levels of the other Nordic countries, it is my belief that SD would have faded out into the periphery once again.

But Reinfeldt chose to do the polar opposite.

Leading up to the 2010 election he made a big deal of portraying this liliputian party as the Enemy To Be Defeated, giving them a lot of free publicity. It’s like a 120 lb pitbull posturing before a 50 lb poodle; it just makes people curius about the poodle. He went on the record to state that he loathed them to the point where he refused to “touch them with pliers,” an expression equivalent to the famous 10-foot pole.

Despite Åkessons continued expulsions of unsavory elements and imposing an official zero-tolerance policy against racism, the party continued to be harassed by the leftist radicals with vandalism and beatings. In the aftermath of one such attack Reinfeldt went on the record condoning political violence against SD.

“I oppose all forms of violence and threats,” He started out, in what one would expect to the be the boilerplate condemnation all politicians utter when a colleague is targeted. Then came the “But”. Reinfeldt went on to accuse SD of being “devisive,” “only serving their own interests” and “feigning vulnerability”. “[Because of their politics] …they should not be surprised when things like this happen,” he said about the case where extreme leftists from Antifa (AFA) had invaded a SD candidates home, beat him and carved a swastika into his forehead.

This is a truly remarkable position for the leader of a democratic country. The implied blessing to physically harm anyone active in SD continues to this day, where a number of local politicans have been subjected to everything from slashed tires to torched houses.

Nima Gholam Ali Pour

Nima Gholam Ali Pour is one of them. He is a local SD politician in Malmö, and has been beat up twice for the explicit reason that he is politically involved. Yes, he is of foreign descent. So is a significant percentage of the current SD voters. But that doesn’t matter to the members of the “antiracist” Antifa movement.

Let’s just pause there for a second and ponder a very simple scene: A group of masked young white Swedes are kicking a dark-skinned man laying on the ground. But this is not a hate crime. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The masked white Swedes are doing a good and noble thing for the antifascist cause, because the dark-skinned man on the ground is a contemptible racist.

Yes. In Sweden, this perverse line of reasoning doesn’t only make sense, it’s mainstream. Or at least, up to a point. Then the levee breaks, common sense rushes in, and SD gains another sympathy vote as a backlash against the absurd justification for political violence. But I digress.

Reinfeldt was furious after SD managed to get into parliament. Despite his numerous aggressive speeches and grandstanding to show off his hate of SD, the stupid voters still voted them in. The nerve! It’s time to punish the voters for being so disobedient! And what better way to do that than opening the floodgates for largely unemployable immigrants from MENA? Ha-HA! Take THAT, voters!

In early 2011, Reinfeldt struck a deal with green party MP that dramaticially lowered the bar for being granted asylum and residence, and in effect abolished the need for new arrivals to be able to support their extended families when bringing them over. Uncle and Grandma was now not only rubberstamped in, they also went straight on the government dole.

The traditional conservatives, the core of Moderaterna, were alarmed and puzzled. How does this rhyme with the normal pragmatic and cautious way? What is the game plan here? And things went downhill from there. In 2013, Sweden announced to the world that anyone claiming to be from Syria was to be granted permanent asylum, no IDs required. The migration bureau doubled and tripled in size, hiking the forecasts again and again. Housing grew increasingly scarce leading to ghettos, social tensions in the ghettos hit the boiling point with rioting. Guns, drugs, and crime on levels previously unheard of in the sleepy little country up north were starting to make world headlines. What was going on?

As election 2014 drew near, Reinfeldt held a historic speech. In many M-voters heads, this was the time in the spotlight when he had the chance to redeem himself by unveiling the unknown game plan for this puzzling behavior. How would Sweden gain from taking in ten times as many uneducated asylum-seekers as the European average? How DID these skyrocketing expenses jive with the traditional fiscal discipline?

Answer: It doesn’t, and they didn’t. Reinfeldt admitted that the immigration was enormously expensive. “We won’t be able to afford anything except immigration in the years ahead!” he said. But he urged people to “open their hearts” anyway, for humanitarian reasons.

Not surprisingly, this didn’t sit well with conservatives who not only shoulder among the heaviest tax burdens in the world, but also see an alarming increase of foreigners going straight onto a lifetime on the government dole. Making matters worse is the knowledge that the vast majority are in fact NOT refugees, as defined by UNHCR, but rather poor people merely seeking a better standard of living.

Rather than salvaging the situation, Reinfeldt decisively set fire to the tree he was sitting in. A few weeks later he lost the election in a spectacular fashion, where a good chunk of the core voters jumped ship to the only party that pushed for a return to sane immigration.

2010 results in pale grey. Note how the big drop in M went straight to SD. Almost every third SD-voter came from M in 2014.

All the other parties had jumped on the SD-condemnation bandwagon, and were now painted into a corner where they HAD to keep singing the praises of unlimited immigration from MENA. Since they had accused SD for being racist and fascist for wanting to harmonize with the rest of Europe, they couldn’t just turn on a dime and propose the same thing themselves. Mainstream media, with it’s heavy left-slant would have crucified any politician daring to leave the corner as well.

Meanwhile, the welfare system crumbled and social tensions continued to build. SD grew from 5,7% in 2010 to 12,9% in Sept. 2014, and are now polling just south of the 20% range. Clearly, something is very much broken in Sweden. It shouldn’t even be possible for a small party to come out of nowhere and in a few years get to the point where it’s only a matter of months before they unseat Moderaterna as the second biggest party.

And here’s the kicker: Most of SDs meteoric rise stems not from their own work, but because all the other parties have locked themselves into an untenable position that grants SD a fantastic monopoly on common sense. It’s like if you went to a job interview, and every other applicant in the waiting room were chugging vodka straight from the bottle. You’d have to make an effort NOT to get the job!

At this point, all but the most idealistic lefties agree that the country is buckling under the pressure. There ARE no more apartments. The hospitals CAN’T handle more patients. The schools CAN’T absorb more kids being dropped into class without warning and without speaking a word of Swedish. The country has ran out of runway and spent the buffers; the crash is imminent, and almost everyone sees it.

But the other seven parties insist that there should be another 600 000 people coming between now and 2019. Backing down is racist, and the politician breathing a word about abandoning the “humanitarian” line is toast. So we must stay the course, all the way down into the bedrock.

And so, almost every month is a new record for SD, being the only option for anyone capable of fifth grade math or better. I doubt the vast majority of all those new SD-voters jumped ship because of any particular love for the party; it’s a simple process of elimination where the choice is to cast a blank vote, or vote for SD.

Personally, I think ALL politicians are scum. I distrust anyone who seeks office, for the simple reason that the desire to grab power (and being manipulative enough to outmaneuver the other ten aspiring candidates) is disqualifying right then and there. Belonging to a political party means you have to buy into a package deal where you may not support more than 80% and perhaps 5% runs counter to what you know to be true in your heart. But even though I would never join a political party of any kind, I would be especially disinclined to join SD.

Simply put, I don’t trust the guys at the top. At all. Some are old-timers from the white supremacy days, others are opportunists seizing the rising tide. I believe there are still snakes hiding under a polished facade, secretly still harboring a pencheant for fondling the SS-dagger hidden in the bottom sock drawer. The survivors of the relentless media scrutiny has merely learned to run silent and run deep, not unlike a Jihadist sleeper cell.

Some show signs of plain old stupidity and poor moral fiber. Mattias Karlsson, the temporary party leader during Åkessons sick leave, reached out to leftist extremists Expo — an organization dedicated to discrediting SD and finding dirt on its members — asking for help to eliminate internal competition within the party. And that’s the top guy running the show as of this writing.

Meanwhile, most local politicians and the vast majority of SD voters are simply your traditional conservatives wishing for an end to the madness with nowhere else to turn. Ethnical Swedes and immigrants alike are literally forced to SD. They didn’t turn their backs on their previous parties; the previous parties turned their backs on them by drinking Reinfeldt’s cool-aid.

So what I’m seeing is a huge mass of regular conservatives with a small clique of scum sitting pretty atop it all. Time and time again, the Swedish media unearths scandals where SD leaders are found writing racist shit online, being caught on tape waving aluminum rods downtown a saturday night preparing for a fight, or even unearthing old pictures with people literally wearing swastika armbands (!) — and it doesn’t matter!!

No matter WHAT Researchgruppen or any other dirt-digger comes up with, it will not change the basic reason all these hundreds of thousand voters jumped ship. Every time the newspapers run a new scandal, they always have “experts” predicting the imminent demise of the party. And every time, they end up frustrated and baffled that SD continues to grow despite it all.

I find it highly concerning that the sleek, young leadership of SD gains so much power. The official party program is a perfectly ordinary centrist piece of ho-hum by European standards. The main difference is that they advocate heavy efforts to restore defense (desperately needed), which in turn is paid for by reducing immigration to normal European levels. Nothing to object to there. But I for one would sleep a heckuva lot better if those policies were implemented by a bunch of older conservatives that didn’t have any supremacist roots.

Meanwhile, I find it puzzling in the extreme as to what the other parties are waiting for. SD will be the largest party by next election, and half (or more) of the small parties will be pushed out of parliament and fade into oblivion. So what would these small guys have to lose by listening to the voters and halt to bleeding to SD? In fact, I am convinced any one of them, like the Christ Democrat party KD, could yank itself away from the 4%-abyss and hit double digits in a matter of weeks should they just decide to drop the prestige.

But so far, the preferred method to combat SDs growth is to yell “Racists!” at every opportunity. This despite the absurdity of claiming 20% of the population woke up one morning and decided to start hating people of color, and in particular because of the stellar results this method has for curbing SDs progress thus far. And let’s not even discuss the logic of accusing the many immigrant SD-voters for being racist against themselves.

Reinfeldt continues to promote SD hard, through his particular method of reverse psychology. Even after he stepped down as PM and party leader of Moderaterna he unleashes nuggets of wisdom so otherworldly that you can hear the membership-counter at SD headquarters rattle merrily in sync with his lips moving.

In December, he reflected on how much open space there was underneath as he flew his private government jet above Sweden. “Endless fields and forests […] There’s more room than one can imagine!” he enthused, arguing the country had virtually limitless capacity to receive ever larger quantities of immigrants. Somehow, I doubt today’s new arrivals from MENA expecting better standard of living would be particularly happy to be handed an axe, a shovel and mule and told to “seek their fortune” in the wild.

Shortly before Christmas, he said: “Sweden belongs to the immigrants — not the Swedes.” One would think that would be clearly out of line, but most Swedes swallowed it. Another quote from the newly elected prime minister in 2006: “The original Swedish culture is merely barbary. All progress has come from outside sources.” (said before a crowd of Syrian immigrants.)

And today he popped up in the news again, arguing that the more people Sweden lets in, the more people will work and benefit society by paying taxes. Even the reporter couldn’t resist pointing out the flaw in that reasoning: While true at 100% employment, it falls flat with the 80% unemployment that some groups are saddled with.

“The Sweden Democrats argues that one needs to differentiate the immigrants,” the reporter said. “Do you believe that an immigrant engineer in a sector experiencing shortage of skilled labor is more beneficial to the country than an uneducated immigrant trying to get into an already sated job sector?”

Reinfeldt replied that his vision for an open Sweden meant “people of all kinds” could arrive freely, and thus he refused to “divide people in such a manner.”

Imagine that. I hear there’s a shortage of dentists around here. I should go to the local dentistry center and demand to get hired, arguing that it is unjust and immoral to divide people in such a manner. With luck, Reinfeldt will be my first patient.

The Rise of Swedish Fascism

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/5a4/74071895/files/2014/12/img_0163.jpg

For once, I actually agree with the leftists about something. I, too, am very concerned about the rise of fascism in Sweden.

The difference is that their definition of fascism has evolved into Orwellian newspeak to mean anyone who does not unconditionally embrace open borders, denial of all forms of domestic culture, and flaming self-hatred under the White Guilt blanket. My definition is the real thing.

When Benito Mussolini started out, he was a socialist but found it wanting. He soon went on bring fascism to the world, with a Great Leader, the uber-strong state, corporativism, increased citizen surveillance, reduced personal freedom, and all the other fun stuff jackbooted thugs across the world tend to get all giggity about to this day.

Like Hitler, Mussolini was made prime minister as a compromise and a stopgap to bring order to chaos. The communist threat was dire in the early 1920s. Mussolinis politics, and perhaps more importantly, his blackshirt brigade, was just the antidote to keep the reds at bay, people believed.

But the fascist party was small and had little real political power. Mussolinis hands were tied, having only 34 deputies in Parliament and 10 Nationalist allies. So to enable effective minority rule, the Acerbo Law was proposed by Baron Giacomo Acerbo in 1923.

The cornerstone of the law was to abolish proportional representation, instead providing the single largest party a full two-thirds of the seats in Parliament. The last third was to be divvied up amongst the losers. Simply put: The biggest dog in the room was given absolute carte blanche.

The law was passed by the Italian Parliament in November 1923, gaining support by many (including the liberals (!)) as a way to end the political chaos of the time. The fascists immediately exercised the new law and grabbed power.

I bet many praised the newfound stability at first, having “taken responsibility” and “doing what is best for the country”. Unfortunately, we all know what happened after Il Duce was freed from the shackles of political opposition.

The new Swedish “December Agreement” was initiated with a handshake and a joint press conference on December 27, soon to be followed with formal legislative changes.

The new agreement explicitly states that the biggest minority government is to be given free reign without any bothersome opposition. The current government coalition only holds just over 37% of the votes, yet now get to dictate anything that has an associated cost or economic impact. In other words, pretty much everything.

If the leftist government decides to double the taxes and confiscate everything exceeding $1000 in the citizens’ bank accounts, they may do so. The conservative opposition is forced to sit on their hands and forfeit their votes, allowing the measures to pass.

On the flip side, if the conservatives would regain power in 2018, they could privatize and sell the entire famous Swedish medical care system in one fell swoop, to the seething silence of the leftist opposition.

In effect, Sweden has now enacted the Acerbo Law.

Let us pray that this time, just for once, the diminishing of democratic principles for “the good of the country” will not end as badly as it has every other time in history the phrase has been used.

“This is civil treason!”

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/5a4/74071895/files/2014/12/img_0161.jpg

The chairman of Sweden’s oldest conservative think tank, dating back to 1891, has submitted a scathing article in conservative newspaper Svenska Dagbladet on the new deal struck where the snap election was cancelled because the formerly conservative opposition agreed to roll over and blindly adopt socialism.

This is civil treason!

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/5a4/74071895/files/2014/12/img_0162.jpg

Long before the parliamentary election last fall, Stefan Löfven (S) in particular was pushed by the conservative opposition on the potential Government constellations he would go to the polls on. The few replies presented were mildly put evasive, and a historically weak red-green minority government with the support of the Left was thus a fact.

Because of this situation, the conservative Alliance budget won the vote in parliament and the government was thus forced to administer the same, something Stefan Löfven promised not to do – one of many broken promises. That he now shy away not to call an extraordinary election is yet another broken promise to add to the pile.

But it is obviously not only the Social Democrats who have trouble keeping their promises. The so-called “December Agreement” that had been developed during the holiday season and was presented last Saturday, the conservative opposition ceased to be just the opposition in parliament. Instead, they agree to act the role of an airbag to Stefan Löfven and keep his sorry government propped up through artificial support.

This is a danger to the political debate, but also a betrayal of the many volunteers struggling for their conservative parties and especially the millions of voters who cast their votes on any of the conservative Alliance parties. A group many of whom are guaranteed to feel deceived now, only a few months after parliamentary elections. And rightly so.

Instead of continuing to force the prime minister to seek support in parliament, the Alliance chooses simply to surrender. It is nothing more than pathetic. To the Alliance over the next few years promise to support red-green budget options (influenced by the now strengthened the Left) regardless of its political content is nothing more than a political betrayal that is unparalleled in modern history of Sweden. The agreement also forces the freely elected MPs to support the political opponents’ policies rather than to pursue the policies that voters have given them mandate to do.

This unsuspecting’s move has also shown that the Alliance obviously no longer has the vision of itself to form a state-supporting government without support from their traditional political opponents.

Sweden Democrats’ continued success in the polls is obviously one of the main reasons that Stefan Löfven made a 180-degree turn and reneged on his promised snap election. There was a risk that some of the conservative parties would get kicked out of parliament and the Sweden Democrats would strengthen its position.

However, this is an extremely short-term perspective. By jumping into bed with the Social Democrats and the Green Party is the established political parties cemented the image that the Sweden Democrats have long tried to maintain: The Sweden Democrats is the only opposition party.

If the other parties had engaged in a serious debate on migration and integration policies, and listened to many constituents’ legitimate concerns, the Sweden Democrats had not become so successful as they are today. Today they have a near monopoly on the issue, and to recreate a lost trust is difficult.

The possibility of civil renewal many looked for a time as opposition now is gravelled. Instead made further overtures to the socialist and the identity of political parties of the left. The Alliance could have taken a while and come back at an extraordinary election, but with this agreement, it will get the opposite. Instead of conducting conservative opposition politics worthy of the name, the Alliance has simply chosen to become useful idiots.

The values that the conservatives has been previously identified with and stood up for the now vanished. What remains is a bunch of windbags who are obviously more interested in securing their own pay than to fight for a policy they actually believe. We are unable to name this as something other than high treason.

Swedish snap election cancelled

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/5a4/74071895/files/2014/12/img_0158.jpg

Swedish newspaper Expressen is now reporting that the promised snap election in March has been cancelled. The information has been confirmed by several government sources, and all parties except nationalist party SD and communist party V will hold a joint press conference at 10:30 CET to this effect.

UPDATE: The press conference is available live with a transcript on state TV website SVT.se.

As stated, the snap election has indeed been called off. Instead, the parties have agreed to cooperate to block nationalist party SD, the third largest, from getting any influence. This “influence” is the demand that Sweden reduces it’s extreme immigration to that of neighboring countries.

Sweden has ten times the immigration of the rest of Europe, primarily low-educated people from MENA that are greatly overrepresented in the unemployment and crime statistics.

But now the traditional parties have reached an agreement to maintain and even increase the inflow, despite deteriorating state finances and voter resistance to increased immigration (according to the SOM survey of 2014, only 18% of voters support increased immigration; most oppose it).

Nationalist party SD received 12,9% of the votes in the September election, but increased to the 17-18% range in polls after they put their foot down regarding immigration. Some believed SD would have reached 20% or more should the March snap election have taken place.

Now the government and the “opposition” can continue to railroad the voters with unwanted policies for four years unopposed.

Swedish PM showcases his incompetence

The man is supposed to be the leader of a country, a statesman with dignity and character. Instead, he acts like a surly kid. And now that surly kid has begun throwing a tantrum. But let’s back up a little in time first.

Tradition dictates that a prime minister-to-be is asked by the parliament president if he is willing and able to form a government and produce a budget. Löfvén assured the parliament and the people that he was. Löfvén failed miserably on both counts. He also baffled his own voters by rapidly abandoning pretty much all his campaign promises, and instead enforced a series of left-leaning changes that very few supported even in his own party.

Nationalist party SD made it clear they were willing to negotiate, and wrote an open letter to Löfvén the week before the budget vote that they’d support him if he would just cut inflow of asylum seekers by half. Not a very tough demand, seeing how that would put things back to almost exactly the level of the LAST Socialdemocrat PM, Göran Persson. And especially when finance minister Magdalena Andersson had made a big deal about Sweden’s coffers being empty. Löfvén dismissed the offer with a contemptful scoff and refused to even meet with SD.

As the budget defeat drew near, he repeatedly swore — up to the very morning of the budget vote — that he would resign if the budget didn’t pass. It didn’t. But Löfvén didn’t resign. Instead, he issued a snap election to the cost of some 250 million SEK that will probably not change the political gridlock one iota.

He immediately started blaming the mess on the conservative opposition block, the Alliance, for failing to support his leftist budget. Why he thinks they have an obligation to vote for heavy tax hikes, increased welfare and less personal freedom that runs contrary to the wishes of their voters is unclear.

This approach didn’t play very well. While voter confidence has been deteriorating steadily over the past few months, the bottom really fell out when the snap election was announced. According to the latest Ipsos survey, only 2% of the voters want to see the current red-green coalition in government.

So, time to point the finger at someone else, because lord knows there’s nothing wrong with Löfvén’s eminent politics. No need to change anything there, so it’s obviously someone else’s fault. And that someone is: SD.

“SD is a neofascist single-issue party that doesn’t respect people’s differences or the democratic institutions of Sweden!”

That direct quote pretty much sums up the dear PMs new recipe for swaying the voters back. This is beyond stupid for many reasons.

For starters, what is fascism? It’s a system with a super-strong state that controls most aspects of the citizens’ lives. Kind of the direction how Löfvéns party has been pulling historically. Let’s not forget it was S that was trying hard to ban satellite dishes, since it offered citizens other viewpoints than the state-controlled media. And Löfvén has presented several changes to reduce the choices for regular Swedes, most notably the ability to choose your doctor. SD has made no such attempts to decrease personal freedom. And the fascist tendencies are seen, where..?

Secondly, SD has long severed the ties to its questionable roots and has become the gathering spot for social conservatives of all stripes. Every fourth SD voter and many local SD politicians have immigrant roots themselves. Does it seem likely that, for example, Malmö SD politician Nima Gholam Ali Pour would be a closet nazi? Or remain active in a party working to relegate him and his family to second class citizens?

Racist against himself?

Thirdly, the approach of ignoring the factual issues and instead bellowing about racism hasn’t worked that well in the past. Media and the other politicians did that for 4 years, which led to SD more than doubling it’s mandate, from 5,7% to 12,9%. But now Löfvén believes that more of the same is the cunning campaign strategy that will win back the voters lost to SD in the regular september election. He may be overestimating the appeal of returning to someone barking nonsense about what a terrible person you are.

Finally, the pointing finger and trying to blame others for your own incompetence is not impressive anywhere. A carpenter that blames his shoddy work on the hammer being bad is pathetic, but a prime minister doing it has effectively disqualified himself then and there.

If a car salesman tries to sell me a car by badmouthing the competition, I excuse myself and go to the car dealer next door. Politics work the same way. I doubt I’m alone in this reaction, because that means your products (cars/policies) are so lousy they can’t stand on their own merits, but your only hope is to convince the buyer that the competitors’ product is even worse.

Thanks, but no thanks. No sale.

Edit: According to the latest Yougov survey, SD has now climbed to an all-time-high of 17,7%. Seems Löfvéns crusade against the evil fascists is off to a running start.

Pseudoscience and false flags

I guess it’s official; the Swedish election campaign for the impromptu snap election in March is on. And in what can only be described as a remarkable coincidence, the very first thing that happens is that two “scientists” released a report declaring nationalist party SD voters extremely racist. Yes, it’s all about simple bigotry and narrowminded hatred of the unknown when your country has 2% of Europe’s population, yet receives 22% of it’s total refugee inflow year after year.

The leftist mainstream press, whose journalists currently rank well below car salesmen in surveys regarding public trust, pounced on the news and turned the bizarre report into big headlines. Behold! The “ultimate proof” that almost 17% percent of the population secretly likes to don SS-uniforms and march around the living room with severe arm twitches behind closed curtains! Even though every fourth SD-voter is a non-ethnic Swede and thus manages to be racist against themselves! It’s science! A proven fact! Bank on it!

Meanwhile, the report provided great amusement in independent web media for obvious reasons. The undersigned and many with me were grateful for the morning coffee chuckle, since the “scientific” report and its “research methods” had as much credibility as the latest report on North Korea’s Great Leader hitting all hole-in-ones on the first golf round or bench pressing 800 lbs for 20 solid reps.

So what, you wonder, is the natural next step in this saga? Why, a follow-up story where the two “scientists” cry in front of the reporters about the evil, evil SD-voters threatening them of course. Aha! Validation of our precious research!

Unfortunately for the media, the meat of the story turned out to be about the amount you dislodge from the teeth with a toothpick after a meatball sandwich. “An anonymous email,” the so-called scientists coughed up. “But it was a MEAN email!”

It told us to “shut up,” said Peter Hedström, one of the “scientists” basking in the camera lights. Then I could go on enjoying life, he said. This he interpreted as a death threat.

The other part of the email was adressed to the other “scientist,” Tim Müller, who was told to stop wasting tax money on this kind of crap. And in the email, the anonymous writer said about Hedström: “We’ll deal with him later.”

While threats of any kind is of course completely unacceptable in any civilized society, the email above seem somewhat underwhelming in light of what happened to Christian profile Marcus Birro when he dared send a factual Tweet criticizing Islam.

And yet, the anonymous email that was the result of a major headline story in all mainstream media were treated as damning proof that the “scientists” had somehow hit a raw nerve among the one million voter base of SD confirming their ludicrous thesis. A police report has been filed, and university head Helen Dannetun was beside herself with outrage in the media over the horrible email her dear professor had received.

Of course, the very concept of false flag operations never entered the mind of a single mainstream journalist reporting on this facepalm-inducing story. Like the ancient Romans said: “Cui bono?” Who benefits from this, on the very first day of a new election campaign?

I would go on, but I have to start drafting an anonymous email. I plan to send it to prime minister Löfvén.

“Dear Sweden.

We intend to attack you soon! Stupid Swedes! You suck!”

Then I will cleverly sign it: “Denmark”

With such indisputable and damning evidence of an impending invasion, I expect full mobilization of all armed forces within hours.
